Electromyography & Nerve Conduction Studies

All types of adult referrals for nerve conduction studies & electromyography are welcome, except for patients who require facial testing. Consultations include a full medical history, neurological exam, and focused musculoskeletal exam when a musculoskeletal mimic is suspected. The diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed with the patient at the end of their appointment. The consultation note will be forwarded to you within approximately 1 week. 

We diagnose neuromuscular abnormalities, aid with prognostication, and suggest next steps for investigations and treatment. We specialize in:

• Differentiating between musculoskeletal & neurological pain generators, and ruling out common musculoskeletal mimics
  
  
• Diagnosing & providing conservative treatment recommendations for nerve entrapment, radiculopathy, polyneuropathy, and nerve trauma, including carpal tunnel syndrome & cubital tunnel syndrome
  
  
• Confirming cervical / lumbosacral radiculopathy root levels to aid with pre-surgical planning
  
  
• If your patient experiences any of the following symptoms which you think may be nerve or muscle related, we would be glad to see your patient:
  
  
  • Numbness
  • Tingling
  • Burning
  • Weakness
  • Abnormal movements

A patient that presents with numbness, tingling, burning, or weakness that doesn't have a better explanation is a good candidate for EMG / NCS.

• Carpal tunnel syndrome
• Cubital tunnel syndrome/ulnar neuropathy at the elbow
• Ulnar neuropathy at the wrist
• Radial neuropathy
• Peroneal neuropathy
• Femoral neuropathy
• Tarsal tunnel syndrome
• Polyneuropathy
• ALS
• Radiculopathy
• Brachial plexopathy
• Lumbosacral plexopathy
• Sciatic neuropathy
• Myasthenia gravis
• Lambert Eaton myasthenic syndrome
• Myopathy
